What does feeling in control look/feel like to you?
Our Founder, Jas shares her perspective: “When so many things are outside of our control, it’s building that safe space and safe home within. That inner balance; feeling that inner peace in my inner world.
On how I create this: Mornings are my favorite part of the day ☀️. I meditate, journal and take a walk outdoors or get on my bike trainer. It’s a space that I can honour and come back to each morning. That’s the space I know I’ll have. It’s something within my control. And on some days, when I choose to sleep in, I’m okay with that too.”
⭐️ Framework: Top 3 Ways to Feel In Control
When things get overwhelming, here’s how you can regain that inner feeling of lightness.
#1: Find: your daily anchor ⚓️
When the world feels outside of your control, what is one thing that you can anchor on and come back to?
Perhaps it’s that morning workout, ticking off that one to-do, or a feeling of lightness in your chest. Find one.
#2: Recognise: what’s within your locus of control (and what’s not) 🌪️
What is actually within your locus of control? What is outside of your control? Is there someone you can call in to support you?
#3: Protect: Know what you’re willing to fiercely protect 🙅♀️
Your time, emotions, energy, attention - what do you choose to let onto your island?
Remember that last minute invite that was slotted into your lunch break; that work colleague trigger which you allowed to affect you all day; or that little cheeky Netflix documentary that turned to late-night doomscrolling - for the 10th consecutive day.
If you don’t protect your island fiercely, others will take over.
Take a pause. Breathe 💛. Identify one little thing you would like to fiercely protect. Do that today.
